Local Girl Scouts Take Part in Legislative Day 2012

Girl Scouts from Colonial Coast recently traveled to Richmond to take part in the annual Virginia Girl Scout Legislative Day. The morning included a Milk and Cookies reception held for legislators where they were able to sample Girl Scout cookies and be updated on the delivery of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience by Virginia councils. Exhibits prompted discussion on several Girl Scout initiatives, including STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), healthy living, the 100th anniversary Forever Green service project and the new ToGetHerThere campaign.

After the reception, Girl Scouts were invited to House and Senate sessions where resolutions were read by leading women legislators in recognition of the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouts. A tour of the Executive Mansion in the afternoon made it a full day!
